Filey Sailing Club Rules

1. The Club and its officers will not be liable for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused as a result of taking part in any sailing activity or races whether organised by the Club or otherwise.
2. Each member is entirely responsible for their own safety whether afloat or ashore and is responsible for keeping their vessel suitable for purpose. Under 18's are the responsibility of the parents or legal guardians. If they are a student member or part of a family membership their safety remains the responsibility of their parent whilst at the club and that parent or guardian should remain onsite to offer any off-water assistance they may need.
3. All boats must be insured against third party risks to a minimum of £2,000,000.00.
4. When sailing or on the water at any time, suitable personal buoyancy and clothing must be worn.
5. Inexperienced helms and crews are advised not to sail in conditions beyond their ability. In general Force 3 in gusty conditions and Force 4 in steady winds. If unsure seek the advice of an instructor.
6. Going out to sea in conditions beyond your experience and capabilities may endanger the lives of others as well as your own.If sailing midweek or when there are no organised club activities, members are advised to carry their own method of communication with Emergency Services.
7. No one may use the tractor without completing their Club tractor licence or winch without completing a winch familiarisation course.
8. To borrow club equipment, get approval form a Committee Member or club RYA Dinghy Instructor and refer to the procedures in the front of the Equipment Sign-out book and have a Committee Member or club RYA Dinghy Instructor sign for the equipment in the book.
9. Filey Sailing Club is fully committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of all its members particularly children and 'adults at risk'. Club members should at all times, show respect and understanding for the rights, safety and welfare of others, and conduct themselves in a way which reflects the principles of the club. 10. No personal motor-powered craft to be launched from Filey Sailing Club unless being used as support cover for a Filey Sailing Club Event or there are extenuating circumstances agreed by the committee.
